Cookie Policy

This policy explains the cookies and similar technologies that JuryForge uses on its website and web application, why we use them and how you can control them. It forms part of our Privacy Policy. JuryForge is built and operated by Eterlio.

1. What cookies and similar technologies are

Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device. Similar technologies, such as browser local storage, let a website save small pieces of information in your browser. In this policy, "cookies" covers both.

2. Strictly necessary cookies

These are needed for JuryForge to work and to keep it secure. They cannot be switched off in our banner, because without them you could not sign in or use the Service. We use them on the basis that they are strictly necessary to provide the service you asked for.

  • refreshToken: a secure, HTTP-only cookie set when you sign in, used to keep you signed in and to protect your session. It lasts up to 14 days or until you sign out.
  • Device identifier: a random value saved in local storage to recognise your browser for security, session management and rate limiting.
  • Cookie choice: a record in local storage of the choice you made in our cookie banner and when you made it.
  • Sign in and security state: short-lived values used during magic link and Google sign in, and while you complete onboarding.

3. Preference storage

We save a few preferences in local storage so the Service works the way you left it, such as your theme, language, active Organization, sidebar and courtroom view settings, and whether you have seen certain messages. These stay on your device and are not used to track you.

4. Analytics and advertising

We do not currently use analytics, advertising or third-party tracking cookies. If we introduce optional cookies in future, we will list them here and set them only if you choose Accept all in our cookie banner.

5. Third-party cookies

Some third parties set their own cookies when you use their services through JuryForge, such as Google when you choose to sign in with Google, and Stripe or Paystack on their payment pages. Those cookies are controlled by those companies under their own policies.

6. Your choices

When you first visit, our banner lets you choose Accept all or Necessary only. You can change your choice at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser, which brings the banner back. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but if you block strictly necessary cookies you will not be able to sign in.

7. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the cookies we use change. When we add a new kind of cookie that needs your consent, we will ask you again.
